Scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of Eriophyid mite (Aceria hibisci) that causes hibiscus leaf galls. Hibiscus erineum mite feeding on plants results in unsightly leaf, stem, and twig galls. The damage is most noticeable on the leaves and developing vegetative buds. The galls are localized growth reactions of the host plant to the mite feeding. Magnification: x220 when shortest axis printed at 25 millimetres.
