Asplenium australasicum, commonly known as the Birds Nest Fern, is a large fern with attractive foliage. It grows as a rosette and produces leaves that can reach 1 m long as it grows to 1 m tall and 2 m wide. Best results with this plant are achieved when it is grown on a well-drained, sheltered site in partial shade. The Birds Nest Fern is commonly grown outdoors in frost free areas. In such circumstances it is well suited to planting around outdoor living areas, shaded areas, and including in subtropical gardens.
