Another invasive species, the Mozambique Tilapia is a hardy and tolerant fish thrives in much saltier water than some of the other species of Tilapia. This makes it able to spread very rapidly by migrating through saltwater and estuarine environments. However, it is intolerant of cold water temperatures and thus represents a limited threat to the northern portions of the eastern seaboard and other areas that might be open to its invasion. It is currently established in Florida, Texas, California, Hawaii, Colorado, Arizona, Idaho, and Puerto Rico.
