Captive breeding / propagation

The offspring of Sandalolitha boucheti are possible. Unfortunately, the number of offspring is not large enough to cover the demand of the trade. If you are interested in Sandalolitha boucheti, please ask your dealer for offspring. If you already own Sandalolitha boucheti, try breeding yourself. This will help to improve the availability of offspring in the trade and to conserve natural stocks.

Info

Hoeksema, 2012

Very special thank for the first photo of Sandalolitha boucheti to Dr. Bert W. Hoeksema, Naturalis Biodiversity Center, Leiden.

This mushrom coral was named in honour of Professor Philippe Bouchet, a french biologist and scientist whose primary scientific fields of study are malacology and taxonomy.

The coral can be distinguished from its congeners by dense and thin septa, fine serrated septal dentations, evenly distributed stomata.

Colour: light brown
