Description: Colonies are submassive. Corallites are deep. Septo-costae strongly alternate with primary septa very exsert. Columellae are peg-like to absent.
Color: Tan.
Habitat: Most reef environments.
Abundance: Uncommon.
Similar Species: Pavona gigantea, which forms massive colonies. See also P. explanulata, which has a laminar growth-form and corallites with less exsert primary septa.
