Istiophorus platypterus (Shaw, 1792)

The Indo-Pacific sailfish can be found singly or in larger schools of up to30 animals in almost all oceans at depths up to 40m. Regular sightings and catches are reported from both the West- and the East Atlantic, the East-, West- as well as the Central Pacific and the Indian Ocean.

The Indo-Pacific sailfish live in open water, often hunting in groups.
