Characters:
Colonies are massive and meandroid, with walls forming an acute or sharp edge. Septa are uniformly exsert and have ragged margins. Columellae are well developed but do not form centres.

Similar Species: Platygyra daedalea, which has weakly developed columellae. Living colonies of P. daedalea do not have walls with such acute edges. See also P. sinensis, which has more meandroid valleys and walls of uniform thickness.

Husbandry know-how of owners

Ich kann meine Korallen nicht eindeutig zuordnen, den Abbildungen folgend, sollte es sich aber P. acuta handeln.

1. Die Art ist gut haltbar, besonders unter Blaulicht sehr attraktiv.

2. Sie vernesselt andere Korallen, z.B. Acanthastrea, wenn man nicht auf einen Mindestabstand achtet (10 cm?). Zwischen der Strömung und der Länge der Tentakeln scheint tatsächlich ein Zusammenhang zu bestehen.

3. Licht: Braucht nicht unbedingt viel Licht, sie könnte im Gegenteil bei zu scharfer Beleuchtung ausbleichen.

3. Zufütterung gut möglich, bei mir immer mit Fauna Marin "Ultra LPS", wobei mir hier die kleinere Körnung geeigneter erscheint.

4. Die Koralle lässt sich gut fragmentieren und regeneriert recht schnell.

Fazit: Sehr empfehlenswert!
