Occurs on seaward reefs, in areas of moderate to rich coral growth. Feeds about equally on small fishes, shrimps and crabs; to a lesser extent, on sipunculids and zooplankton.

Jumping guard
A jumping guard prevents (nocturnal) fish from jumping out.
Wrasses, blennies, hawkfishs and gobies jump out of an unprotected tank in fright if their night rest is disturbed, unfortunately these jumpers are found dried up in the morning on carpets, glass edges or later behind the tank.

A small night light also helps, as it provides the fish with a means of orientation in the dark!

Husbandry know-how of owners

Habe diesen wunderschönen Korallewächter seit mehreren Wochen. Die ersten Tage war er noch etwas scheu was aber sehr schnell nach lies. Wie beschrieben sitzt er gerne an erhöhten Positionen und begutachtet das Treiben. Die Haltung ist unproblematisch er frisst alles was ihm angeboten wurde. Soweit ich es feststellen konnte liegt die Vorlieben bei Shrimps (trocken Futter oder aufgetaut). Vorsicht ist geboten bei der Vergesellschaftung mit kleineren Fischen. Er hat meinen neue Gelbschwanzdemoiselle direkt attackiert.
