This snapper is found mainly over sand and rubble flats of the outer reef slopes and is considered a mesocarnivorous fish.
Lethrinus rubrioperculatus is often found in large schools and prefers hard bottoms under oceanic influences such as reef slopes, offshore banks and reefs.

The snapper is an excellent food fish that is pursued with angling, fish traps and nets.
