These almost distinctive reef perches are usually found above large, shallow reef tops of seaward facing reefs and lagoons, where they usually occur in considerable numbers and patrol with other reef perches.
Pomachromis exilis is considered terretorial and not migratory, which explains the very limited distribution of this species.

Pomachromis exilis is light green with a distinct elongated dark spot on the tail stem and a large black spot on the upper breast axis.
The dorsal fin and the bulging ends of the caudal fin are long and pointed.

Aqauristic keeping experiences or imports are not available.
