Dirinaria Lichen

Dirinaria purpurascens

Description:

Foliose green lichen with white-rimmed brown apothecia. First spotting of this species on Project Noah. Though not uncommon, it is often overlooked (like many lichens) or not properly identified.

Habitat:

Large oak tree on the Chassahowitzka Salt Marsh Trails

Notes:

I often mix this genus up with Physcia.
