Chrysodeixis eriosoma

Chrysodeixis eriosoma

Description:

A type of looper moth I haven't seen before. About 22mm long. It was accidentally flushed from shrubbery in an outer urban back yard and didn't hang around for a second picture. The bright wing markings should be enough for an ID though.

Habitat:

Urban back yard.

Notes:

Sometimes called Green Looper the caterpillar feeds on just about anything... GERANIACEAE, ASTERACEAE, FABACEAE, LAMIACEAE, RUTACEAE, SOLANACEAE
family: NOCTUIDAE
subfamily: Plusiinae
genus: Chrysodeixis
Distribution in Australia http://spatial.ala.org.au/?q=lsid:%22urn...

It does look similar Fyn. There's so many of those little squiggly white patterns. Sometimes they glow and almost seem luminous at night. I must try to capture that. As usual that one is not in Australia so I must keep looking :(
