GIANT MANTIS SHRIMP

Pairs inhabit burrows on shallow sand flats.  Spears prey with razor-sharp serrated raptorial appendages.  Can inflict serious injury if handled.  Attains 16 inches.  East Africa to French Polynesia, including Hawai'i.
