Pairs are common on reefs to 350 feet. Feeds upon tube feet and pedicellariae of echinoderms, worm
tentacles, and other invertebrates. Fish in caves frequently swim
upside down along the ceiling. Dark yellow, region behind pectoral fin lacks small dots, opening of mouth
about 5mm, greater than the Longnose
Butterflyfish, Forcipiger longirostris, but the overall snout
length is less. Attains 8.5 inches. Red Sea to
Southern Japan, Hawai'i, Easter Island, Mexico, and the
Galapagos. |
