We are transforming from Homo Sapiens to Home Digitus

Homo sapiens - the modern humans, the term sapiens was derived from a Latin word that means ‘wise’ or ‘astute’.with a history of 300,000 years evolved in Africa. they were hunter-gatherers, and evolved behaviors that helped them respond to the challenges of survival in unstable environments. There were three significant prehistoric species, the habilis, the neanderthal, and Homo sapiens. Habilis the oldest one means handyman and they are the ones who made tools out of stone. The neanderthal is between habilis and sapiens. There are arguments that these two species coexisted in different parts of the world and even interbred. Homo sapiens began migrating from the African continent and populating the world and became the most successful species on earth. Collectively they invented complex tools and fire.

In addition to hunting animals and killing them out of self-defense, Sapiens began to use the earth’s resources in new ways when they constructed semi-permanent settlements. Sapiens started shifting from nomadic lifestyles to fixed homes, using the natural resources there. Semi-permanent settlements would be the building-blocks of established communities and the development of agricultural practices. Burial of the dead, drawings, sculptures, symbols, agriculture, religion, language, the conscious use of color, concepts of gods and cosmic mysteries were all part of human cultures scattered around the earth

The emergence of language was an innovation that radically changed the character of human society. The development of language which allowed them to make plans, solve problems, and organize effectively. The invention of fire helped them to cook food including hard-to-digest vegetable foods, Many anthropologists indicated that a prime factor in pre-Sapiens brain growth was improved nutrition made of cooked food. The ability to build fires on command, our ancestors could keep predators at bay at night, and very likely make some of our first weapons…. The spear with a fire-hardened point.

The Homo sapiens focuses on key processes that shaped humankind and the world around it, The history of our species is a stream of discoveries—major and minor—which have allowed us to progress and direct the course of our evolution, The span of recorded history is roughly 5,000 years, beginning with the Sumerian cuneiform script, with the oldest coherent texts. The early to mid-stage Homo sapiens focused on organised farming, complex society, creating religions, rituals, printing, educational systems, currency, and the state. The advent of agriculture, the creation of money, evolved over a period of time from tools to build large industries, wheels to automobiles, and the spread of religion, politics, judiciary, governance, and the rise of the nation-state. Their early sapiens life span was 30 years which has accelerated to more than 80 years, thanks to modern science. The focus areas of late-stage Homo sapiens were into building industries, countries, science & technology, and profound financial systems and wealth creation where we had created the largest wealth in the last 100 years. Finally, we invented the computer which triggered the emergence of the superior specious.

Homo Digitus the new specious - Each evolution of the human species delivers on the promise of a smarter human far more capable than the species that preceded it. Now we have emerged as a brand new species. We have become technology-fueled beings whose lives are closely anchored to digital objects: Deep learning, artificial intelligence, and behavioral analytics are no longer buzz words; they are part of our new reality. It has been announced that within 30 years humans may transfer our mind to the cloud that means we will become digitally immortal. The startup called Humai is working on that mission to solve the most complex problem of humans which is death. The advancement of synthetic biology, new materials, genetic and biomedical engineering, biorobotics are creating new solutions for the human race. The new technology called Crisper can edit genes and modify them in the way they want and save us from diseases like cancer and Alzheimer's. They say that we may reach a stage called " Singularity" by 2045. The singularity is that point in time when all the advances in technology, particularly in artificial intelligence (AI), will lead to machines that are smarter than human beings “That leads to computers having human intelligence, our putting them inside our brains, connecting them to the cloud, expanding who we are. The process has already begun; it only accelerates.

As the most successful species, we have reached 7 billion (7,000,000,000) people on Earth. Scientists believe that the greatest load which earth can hold is 9 to 10 billion people, which is very close. The future is unpredictable. However, as per the opinion of various futurists, we may see a total structural change in society, work, politics, religion, and relationships. We may become more empathetic, animals will be treated as a part of the ecosystem, borders will stay open and the world will become a digitally driven marketplace. We will see the most advanced electric cars, personal flying machines, Hyperloop transportation systems, private space tourism, the discovery of new energy, and drone delivery services. We’ll probably wear Band Aid-style fitness sensors on our skin, charge our devices using wireless power, let algorithms optimize and guard our homes, and have virtual assistants (the next generation of Google Now, Siri, and Cortana) to help us manage the flood of data and make sense of it, for example, Siri advising us to eat food based on our nutrition and biochemical need. As the resources shrink, the next major food revolution will be vertical agriculture in which we grow food in AI-controlled vertical buildings and lab-made meat without killing animals. As the population explodes, humans may think about colonizing other planets which may be the beginning of a new era that we might see in our lifetime.

I don't agree its a new species. I definitely don't agree it will lead to or has led to a 'smarter human'. Its not a new species, its the same species demonstrating an advanced level of controlling their environment. As for the 'smarter' - you've seen Tiktok, right? There are now multiple generations that have no clue how to feed and take care of themselves without tech or gadgetry. And don't get me started on entitlement. But aside from all this, there's another flaw in the argument. Nearly half of our 7 billion souls have no exposure to a digital anything, let alone a digital market place. How do they evolve?

Excellent article @Shine Gopal. My only hope is that we first clean up this planet on which we reside from further destruction before venturing to create colonies on other planets. While technology advancement cannot be controlled we must remember that we are organic creatures and attempts to artificially create food and water will only harm our health as can be seen over the decades of our civilization history. Increased cases of cancer and other life threatening diseases and of course unknown viruses being released will only devastate next generations to getting into “ anti social “ mode. They say that man is a social animal; but sadly we are neither social and animals, I think live a better life despite a shorter life span. We are already paying a very high price for destroying the resources of Mother Earth and then trying to pursue happiness, peace and good health. Our ancestors left us with a much better earth than we are going to leave behind for next generations. It’s time to address the issues of the present life we live in before prophesying future.

A lot of this is already happenning. Well compiled Shine 👍👌
