TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE! Help Stella and 250 rescued wild animals about to lose their only safe home! Stella, a slow loris, is one of 250 rescued wild animals facing eviction from a wildlife sanctuary in Laos, Southeast Asia. She was shot 11 times by poachers attempting to capture her for the Asian bushmeat trade. The sanctuary, run by the Lao Conservation Trust for Wildlife (LCTW), provides shelter and care to animals rescued from traumatic and brutal situations such as poaching, the illegal pet trade, and the bear bile trade. But the people who own the sanctuary’s land want it back – and LCTW has to vacate by JUNE. That’s just four months to prepare a brand-new sanctuary and build safe, spacious enclosures for all the animals. The good news is that LCTW has secured new land but the bad news is that they are short of funds to build enclosures. Each enclosure costs between $10,000 and $20,000, and we need to help to fund 17. If the funds aren’t raised in time, the animals will have to remain locked in cramped cages – potentially re-traumatizing them after all they’ve endured – until the money CAN be raised. We MUST prevent this. Please, help give the animals a new home by donating now and sharing this post. Good day everyone, We have started Ahua Portugal over 3 years ago with the intention of protecting and enhancing our 18 hectares forested hillside bordering one of the few rivers, and very important ecological lifeline, in the area located 4 km from the Atlantic Ocean. It has a unique microclimate and was a haven for wildlife with incredible diversity. A few days ago our beautiful wild piece of nature and everything we have been building for the last years has gone up in smoke. The intense wildfires of the last days made a devastating impact on uw. Now there is nothing left except our stone house. We have started a crowdfunding campaign to get funds to help us rebuild this important ecosystem. https://gofund.me/27af5494 The goal is to make a permaculture design increasing the water retention of the land as well as minimizing erosion. We want to replant with native fire resistant species and abundant supporting species and ground cover to make sure the wildlife returns and our land will thrive for generations to come. Our further goals, if achievable, are to restore the rest of the effected areas and also make sound plans for restoring the flow of the river and promoting water retention projects on other lands in this area. First we must lead by example. Anyone willing to think along or help us with these plans is more than welcome. We have al lot of experience with hosting large teams of volunteers and want to have a big ecosystem restoration camp (aim is 50 people) set up on the top of our land by October so we can begin just before the first rains. This is our website that we made 3 years ago www.Ahuaportugal.com (this will be updated as soon as we have a our plan written out, with also updates on progress in the future). Our mission is still the same and now in these turbulent times more important than ever. Anyone with contacts for supply of trees/ knowledge/manpower/ tools/ subsidies or funding or anyone who just want to join in the effort please send me a message. Thank you very much, Anne van Melis & Pjotr van Rijn For direct Dutch donations:A.A.M. van MelisNL23RABO0145212424or use this linkhttps://lnkd.in/d2sTv2RR

By donating to this appeal, you will support organisational and community partners in Way Kambas as they restore rainforest habitat for endangered Sumatran wildlife species. We’re aiming to raise £20,000 to support the transformation of three sites in Way Kambas. With your contribution, we can help fund the growth of native tree species, with local experts driving the restoration project forwards. Act now to save Sumatra's endangered species and give rhinos room to survive. Donate today > https://buff.ly/4651xKd *Between 1 November and 31 December 2022, 50% of the public donations towards the Room to Rhino appeal will be used to support reforestation activities in Way Kambas National Park, Indonesia. Today is #WorldWetlandsDay, an international day to raise global awareness about the essential role of wetlands for humanity and our planet. Wetlands are an integral ecosystem which provide essential habitat to B.C.'s fish and wildlife, purify water, control flooding, sequester carbon, and more. This year, the theme of World Wetlands Day is wetland restoration, which highlights the urgent need to prioritize restoration efforts for degraded or lost wetlands. Through the Wetlands Workforce, the BCWF has worked collaboratively with First Nations, government, and NGOs to restore, monitor/maintain, and enhance over 200 wetland sites across B.C. since 2021. Take action this World Wetlands Day and donate to the BCWF to support ongoing restoration efforts. Learn more about World Wetlands Day and BCWF's restoration: https://bit.ly/3Y0zsjV

Please email the Icelandic embassy (also Japan and Faroe Island embassies) in your country stating two facts: (1) Using the IMF's Natural Capital valuation for whales, (https://lnkd.in/esF5Kudc ) the Icelandic government pays the true cost its whaling industry via direct payments to Oceanic protection and marine conservation charities, and ends all whaling activities. (1) Until this condition is met, you will never visit, trade with or employ any Icelandic citizen. #WhaleConservation #IcelandicCulture #BiodiversityCollapse #Ecocide https://lnkd.in/emhEi2xT

Well put sir, conservation is key in all aspects of saving endangered species..
Sr. Financial Executive passionate for driving growth and sustainability. I improve business performance by adopting sustainable data driven business practices to benchmark, report & scale up operations.
Let’s Make a Difference Together In the world we live in, certain buzzwords resonate deeply with us. Two of these words, sustainability and conservation, have been close to my heart for years. They’ve become ingrained in my daily life. As an avid hiker, I’ve witnessed the impact on our environment, and the urgency to protect our world’s uniqueness. In 2022, an idea was born - why not hike the mountains to raise funds for the endangered Mountain Bongo? Thus, the ‘Trek for the Bongo’ expedition began. The Trek was organized by Mount Kenya Wildlife Conservancy and to make it even more challenging, I decided to climb Mount Kenya, the natural habitat of the Mountain Bongo, three times in three days, 3 for 3. Thanks to the incredible support from the Janus Continental Group (JCG) Board, staff, family, and friends, it was a major success. The funds raised were used to support the conservation efforts at the Mount Kenya Wildlife Conservancy. With the valuable lessons learned and fueled by the successes of the past year, we’re back in 2023. This time, we have a team of 11 hikers. We’ve already raised 5X the amount we did in 2022, but we believe we can achieve 10X with your support. Details on how to support this expedition can be found on the poster. To discover the incredible work being done by the Mount Kenya Wildlife Conservancy, please visit their website, https://lnkd.in/dbKvRX32. Together, we can make a lasting impact on the conservation of the Mountain Bongo and our environment. 🏞️🌿 #TrekForTheBongo #Conservation #Sustainability #MountKenyaWildlife A special mention to the JCG team for making this possible. SIGH OF RELIEF FOR SERENGETI COMMUNITIES: Living in close proximity to wildlife poses challenges for many African communities. Farmers in Ikona, Tanzania, have to face elephants venturing from the unfenced National Park in search of food. 🐾🌾 Elephant Crisis Fund has partnered with FZS to install 14 elephant-safe grain stores in 7 villages. Unlike traditional stores, these robust structures made of bricks and concrete can't be knocked over. Each can store up to 2 tons of grain. FZS is also installing 4 high observation towers, empowering farmers to keep watch, issue early warnings, and prevent crop raiding incidents. This pilot project, supported by Dr. Lucy King of Save the Elephants, aims to promote human-elephant coexistence. ------------- #1: Elephants in Ikona Wildlife Management Area, Tanzania. 📷: © Daniel Rosengren/ FZS Let's celebrate these initiatives fostering harmony between humans and elephants! #HumanElephantCoexistence #SerengetiHope #ConservationWins #WildlifeProtection #SustainableAgriculture
