The post below is a model I have been working on in the evenings over the lockdown period. I find modelling great way to unwind, after being on the computer all day, long way to go yet, but all the hard stuff is done.

Puriora Timber Trail I thought I would share with you another exciting project that I have worked on. Developing the interpretation along the Pureora Timber Trail, now one of the most popular routes in Nga Haerenga The New Zealand Cycle Trail. This 84km cycleway runs from Pureora, near the tiny settlement of Bennydale, through the Pureora Forest Park to Ongarue. In total a stunning 90 signs were created for the trail. This seems like a lot, but spread out along such a long route, and with higher concentrations in the areas where a greater need is expected, large part of the trail are still uncluttered. the signs are all placed at natural stopping points: at bridges at the end of a climb, or at a major feature. Our interpretation signs tell a story along the way covering three main themes - timber industry, ecological stories and the social history. I worked on layout and design, clearcutting photos, research and the illustrations. Scroll to see some of my favourites.
