Hunting for millicharged particles at the #LHC The FASER and FORMOSA collaborations teamed up to test a demonstrator experiment to detect particles with a tiny electrical charge. The FORMOSA demonstrator, which hunts for millicharged particles, has recently been installed in the cavern containing the FASER detector, 480 metres downstream from the ATLAS interaction point. #DidYouKnow that this year CERN celebrates 70 years of scientific discovery, innovation and international collaboration on 29 September 2024 ? To honour this occasion, CERN has put together a rich and diverse programme, that will enable the public to celebrate CERN’s illustrious past and engage with its bright future. The programme includes publics events at #CERNScienceGateway and exhibitions. CERN also has an exhibition at Genève Aéroport, inaugurated on 2 May, as part of a collaboration between the two organisations. The exhibition’s three components will occupy the wall leading to the security check before entering the departure lounge, the “Panorama” terrace and the international terminal until autumn 2024. CERN has established a partnership with ENEA, the Italian National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Economic Development, to develop new beam-intercepting devices using liquid-lead technologies.
