Lesser grass blue

Zizina otis

"Zizina otis", the lesser grass blue, is a species of blue butterfly found in south and southeast Asia. The species was first described by Johan Christian Fabricius in 1787. The lesser grass blue is often misidentified as "Zizina labradus", the common grass blue.
Lesser grass blue These pretty and tiny little butterflies are often seen flitting quickly through gardens and fields. The upper surfaces of the wings are coloured a delicate, dusky blue.

This is specifically Zizina otis subspecies labradus.

Examples of preferred plants for feeding...emu foot (Cullen tenax), garden peas (Pisum sativum), and clover (Trifolium species).

Very skittish in nature and fast flyers, this one photographed in repose on a wall and is my first butterfly sighting of the season. Perhaps it was a little cold.
