Mustache Conger - Conger cinereus
The Mustache Conger - Conger cinereus is brown to gray with black well developed pectoral fins; black streak below eye on upper lip; may display dark bands (it has the capability to change the colours on its body from smooth to dark bands).
This Mustache Conger is also known as the Longfin African Conger.
Saw this one during a night dive and it was out hunting. Was able to see it catching two soldier fishes when it go into crevices between corals to look for reef fishes, unfortunately didn't get a good shot of it :(
The longfin African conger is a conger of the family Congridae, found in the Indo-Pacific oceans from the Red Sea and East Africa to the Marquesas and Easter islands, north to southern Japan and the Ogasawara Islands, south to northern Australia and Lord Howe Island, at depths down to 80 m. Length is up to 1.3 m.
