Chiton with an elongated, mottled greenish-brown shell. Clamped fast to a rock on the mid/high shore. Also known as Coat-of-Mail shells due to their body structure, "consisting eight arched plates which interlock flexibily along their margins, like the chain mail used by the knights of old".
