Description:
 Black Cutworm Moth with extended wings; The black cutworm moth is dark brown with a darker band across each front wing, bordered by 2 zigzag black lines on each side, equally spaced from each other for their full length.  There is an indistinct, light brown spot near the outer front of this band.  The rest of the wing is somewhat mottled with light brown.  Hind wings are almost white with some brown clouding at the border.  The wingspan is 1 1/2 inches (38 mm) or slightly more.  The larvae appear greasy, gray to black above with faint, lighter stripes.  The surface of the skin is marked with tiny, strongly convex, rounded granules of different sizes.  This cutworm frequently damages corn and various garden vegetable plants.
