Description: Kūrak is a large tree with a buttressed trunk and a broad crown, reaching heights over 20 m (65 ft). The flowers are small, clustered, and yellowish. The seeds enclose a nut with a chestnut-like flavor that is edible when cooked.

Distribution: Kūrak is known in English as the Tahitian or Polynesian chestnut. The name of this plant in the Marshall Islands indicates that it was probably brought to these islands from Kosrae, where it is a common plant known as kihrak.

Uses: In the Marshall Islands kūrak is used for food and construction.
