Cordyline fruticosa or the Good Luck Tree is an erect clumping evergreen shrub with striking strap shaped leaves that can be single or multi-coloured.
It can grow as a small tree (6m) but is most often seen in pots or tubs growing to around 1-2m in height.
Cordyline fruticosa produces panicles of very fragrant small white to purple flowers in summer up to 30cms long which are often followed by crowded bright red berries.
These are extremely useful plants to fill out difficult areas as they will tolerate a fair amount of shade throughout the day - though they tend to not like full sun all day.
Cordylines will fill shady corners with their wonderfully brightly coloured foliage, providing texture and colour in abundance.
