Who is the Alternanthera reineckii?
The Alternanthera sessilis is a semi-aquatic plant perfectly adapted to the maintenance in aqua-terrarium or in humid paludarium. Besides, in nature, it is considered as a weed which grows near marshes or in a very wet ground.
On the other hand, this plant supports rather badly the total immersion.
This species adapts quite well to high temperatures. It is therefore a very good choice for South American aquariums.
It has green leaves on the top and purple underneath. It offers a nice density.

The culture of this species is carried out by vegetative division of the tufts (ideal) and by cutting of the stems. That is realizable only in external maintenance and in emergence.
