Indo-Pacific sailfish - istiophorus platypterus- 250 cm
This is the fastest fish in the world; speeds of up to 110 km p/h have been described; the fish was prepared in Mexico City; the length of the fish is 2.5 metres, which makes it a fairly large specimen; the tail was slightly damaged after the move, but can easily be returned to its former glory. The 'sail' is telescoped into the back of the fish, as with most specimens, and was prepared separately (too fragile and thin to attach to the rest of the body). On the back of the fish there is a large bracket, enabling it to be lifted and hung on the wall. Due to the size of the object it is advisable to pick up the object.
