Jatropha multifida is a shrubby succulent plant with ornamental foliage and flowering. The stem has the scars of fallen petioles, is branched, with transparent latex and usually does not exceed three meters in height. Its shape resembles a branched papaya tree. The leaves are especially distinctive, as they are large, webbed, with deeply indented lobes, indented margins, and dark green in color. The inflorescences appear throughout the year, rising above the foliage, by long stems, coral-like structures. The color of the inflorescence is red, and small flowers appear from it with a yellow center. The fruits that follow are capsule-type, yellow when ripe and contain about 3 seeds.
In the garden, it stands out for its tropical air, uniquely shaped leaves and vibrantly colored flowers. Thus, it is perfect for planting in pots and flower boxes, adorning balconies, balconies and sunny patios. It is also ideal for rocky gardens, accompanying cacti and other succulents, creating a desert garden atmosphere.
 
It should be grown in partial shade or, preferably, full sun, in fertile, well-draining soil, enriched with organic matter and irrigated at regular intervals. Enjoys tropical heat, but fears excessive humidity. After full establishment it becomes quite drought tolerant. 
In winter, watering should be reduced to prevent root rot. During this period, it is normal for the plant to lose its leaves. It does not support the salinity of the coast.
