Product Description
For a Phyllostachys, this is a smaller specimen and usually only grows to around 20 feet in height though it has been reported to have grown to 45 feet in some warmer locations and is 1 inch in diameter. It’s a good choice as a containerized plant as it is so very cold hardy that being above ground will not be of concern in most places that you will not need to bring it inside. It has attractive green canes with large evergreen foliage. It has the ability to provide a very dense canopy (if this is your desire, otherwise you can thin the canopy) and provides excellent shading. Effective uses are privacy screening, hedging, groves, wind breaks and a display specimen. Hardy from zone 5 and higher and down here in Florida, it readily accepts full sun and high humidity. As stated earlier, the plant is hardy down to -15 degrees. It will die back at -25 degrees and return the next spring with growing very quickly to reestablish in record time. This is truly a bamboo for almost all locations and climates! No shipments to ARIZONA or HAWAII. Your plants are guaranteed to arrive safely and alive. If you have any issue, please advise within 24 hours of receipt along with a picture of the plant in question and we will work through any problem.

I realized too late that it was infested w/ black aphids.
This is not a pest I have encountered in this area (inside or out).
It was held indoors in quarantine when the bloom took off.
I was planning to buy several more of these in the spring, but now I have to reconsider after this experience.

Planted today and hoping these beautiful plants will be happy and grow quickly to fill in an area of our property that has been decimated by deer. I have the bamboo plants fenced off to give them a chance to be left alone until they get stronger. Believe it or not, I've tried planting bamboo before, but it just failed. So, here's hoping my new little bamboo plants settle in and thrive here in the Poconos!
