SEEDS OF ADENANTHERA PAVONINA - RED SANDALWOOD TREE


Ornamental tree for parks, avenues and gardens. Its beautiful seeds are used as beads for necklaces. Nitrogen fixing plant. Used as a fodder crop and medicinal plant.

Deciduous tree of 15m high with a large canopy. Oval-shaped light-green and composed leaves, pods filled with seeds. Little yellowish and scented flowers.

The young leaves are eaten cooked. Raw seeds are toxic but once boiled they can be eaten and are very nourishing.

The leaves and seeds have anti-inflamatory and antibacterial properties.
