  • Distribution: Peninsular India
  • Description: Straggling shrubs. Leaves simple, opposite, broadly ovate, base rounded, caudate acuminate at apex. Cymes terminal, lax, tomentose. Flowers golden-yellow in short cymes. Berry, globose.
  • Habit: Shrub
  • Habitat: Moist deciduous and semi-evergreen forests, also in the plains
  • Flowering & Fruiting: September-March

  • Parts used: Root, leaves and stem
  • Properties & Uses: Plant is astringent, sweet, expectorant, febrifuge, anti-inflammatory, demulcent, ophthalmic and cardiotonic. Whole plant is used to treat cough, bronchitis, fever, inflammation, wounds, ulcers, pruritus, jaundice and uropathy.
