Hard Shield-Fern
Polystichum aculeatum is an evergreen fern whose fronds can grow to almost a meter in length. Its distribution area includes most European countries as well as regions in North Africa. In Asia this member of the Dryopteridaceae family can be found from West Asia to China.
As a garden plant, the Hard Shield-Fern is suitable for semi-shady to shady locations, it requires a consistently moist soil that should not dry out for long periods of time.
