Germination

This can be achieved by gently nicking or rubbing the seed coat with sandpaper or a sharp knife, taking care not to damage the embryo inside. Once scarified, soak the seeds in warm water for 24 hours to soften the seed coat. Prepare a well-draining seed starting mix and sow the scarified seeds at a depth of about 1/4 inch. Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged and provide bottom heat or maintain a warm, bright location with temperatures around 70°F to 80°F (21°C to 27°C). Germination typically occurs within 1 to 2 weeks under these conditions.
