Justicia betonica [White Shrimp plant, Squirrel Tail, Paper Plume] is originally from South Africa. Common name shrimp plant from the inflorescence which resemble a shrimp.
A beautiful unusual shrimp plant, very rare. Very floriferous plant producing in abundance erect white bracts with a green netting pattern, it’s flowers start out white then turn to lavender with age. Note the conspicuous bracts, the strongly two-lipped corollas, and the didynamous stamens.
Planted as ornament and to attract butterflies. Butterfly shown in photo is Eurema blanda snelleni [Three Spot Grass Yellow]
