A day late I am sharing what stood out most in my garden when I returned home yesterday from the Garden Bloggers Fling, which by the way was filled with magnificent gardens and people. It will take a few days to sort through all the photos.
Self-seeded Cleome has taken over the center of the meditation circle. Hummingbirds are darting all around it as are the bees.

Christina, wish you could have joined us. The Fling was great fun, lots of interesting gardens and plants I saw would work in my location quite well. Cleome has a nice form.
Can’t wait to read about the Fling. After literally decades of my cleome self-sowing, I have only ONE seedling. I’ll be darned, perhaps it was the drought, or the cool, wet spring? I have no idea. Time for some new seed, I guess.
Eliza, so interesting your cleome floundered after so long–a shame. I imagine a new pack of seeds will get you right back in business! The Fling was fun.
I just read that Kris Peterson flew out for it. I’m envious you all got to hang together. Maybe next year I’ll go for it. I think it is great idea.

I love, love, love Cleomes! With my partial sun and shade conditions, they’ve struggled, but I still manage to get a few to pop up here and there. I remember they were a favorite annual when I had a sunny garden–and great cut flowers, too, as you show. 🙂
Ah, another cleome fan. Saw a few of these in the Fling gardens. My previous garden was very shady and I never learned to appreciate it until too late.
I don’t know why I don’t grow these flowers but I must change that. It was so great to spend time with you at the Fling, Susie! I’m sorry if I bent your ear. I hope we can meet up again at another Fling or in some other connection. And again, a very happy anniversary!

How wonderful that you and Kris could meet and to share those few days with such like minded people. Look forward to hearing more. Your cleome, both in the vase and in the garden are stunning – something I have tried unsuccessfully to grow from seed but did hope I might be able to buy as plug plants, but didn’t see any.this year. Perhaps next year…
