Description:
The colonies take on an encrusting and solid structure, seldom exceeding a 1-meter diameter. Resembling A. brevis, the corallites are cerioid or subplocoid, circular in shape, and possess thick walls. The septa are characterized by long, pointed projections. These colonies are covered by a substantial layer of fleshy tissue that typically forms concentric folds over the underlying skeleton.
