    Description
    Body is elongate with relatively large, ctenoid scales; dorsal fins widely separated. The mouth is small with slightly protruding upper jaw; a prominent pair of barbels under the chin. Easily recognized underwater by the many lines along the body, but has the appearance of a teraponid when swimming in schools when not feeding .
