This juvenile Four-clawed gecko was found inside my room in ANET. This species occurs in southern India (Kerala) and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, and is widespread in Southeast Asia. It is very likely that it was introduced by human agency to these islands. They lack a distinct claw on thumb - thus the common name. They have very loose, thin skin that comes off easily, a possible defensive adaptation against predators. They can be easily identified based on their generally stout, smooth body with white or yellow spots, and the lack of claw on the first finger and toe.
