Asparagus scandens Thunb.

Climbing branched perennial spineless woody vine to 2.5 m from a short rhizome with thickened roots. Inflorescence consisting of solitary or few flowers in cladode axils. Cladodes broadly linear, flattened, 5-15 mm long, 2-3 per node. Flowers solitary or in clusters of 2-3, bisexual, widely opening, 5-7 mm wide; summer. Tepals white. Fruit red.
