They're native to Southeast Asia and their common name, waxplant, refers to their thick, waxy leaves which help them retain water in the heat. Finding light for Hoya 'Lisa' in your home
Hoya 'Lisa' may have difficulty thriving, and will drop leaves 🍃, without ample sunlight.
Place it less than 3 feet from a south-facing window to maximize the potential for growth.
Select your region to see how the current weather in your area affects the placement of Hoya 'Lisa' in your home 🏡.
How to fertilize Hoya 'Lisa'
Most potting soils come with ample nutrients which plants use to produce new growth.
By the time your plant has depleted the nutrients in its soil it’s likely grown enough to need a larger pot anyway.
To replenish this plant's nutrients, repot your Hoya 'Lisa' after it doubles in size or once a year—whichever comes first.

Hoya Newbie/Maybe Unhappy? I got this Hoya “Lisa” Australis for Christmas and I’m not sure if it’s dying on me or not. It’s in an 8” plastic pot with good drainage. Any pointers for a Hoya Newbie??? #HangingPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy

Is this Fungal Infection on my Hoyas? Hi #GregGang! Checked my lovely Hoyas today and noticed these marks on them. As always, google and Reddit (sometimes) aren’t helpful so I figure I might bother some #greggers to help me out! 🙌🏽 Is this Fungal Infection? I may be overwatering recently due to the fact that my brain can’t remember the last time I watered…and Greg is being a little funky, so a few plants have had a little more water than others 💀💧😩 Edit : No buggies / pests found around these plants since these are in a seperate room 😊 but I am currently fighting Aphids and Mealies in my bathroom 😭 I’m also wondering if it’s because it’s adapting after transplanting to soil! Sometimes I know plants will feel conflicted when grown in water and then suddenly placed in soil. I don’t transition since I don’t have issues (usually), but wondering if this may be the case! Tagging a few people that may be able to help 🫶🏽 @jaysjungle @HoyaAddict @sarahsalith @Gordo #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #NewGrowth #PropagationStation #CentralTexasGang #HoyaHangout #HoyaObovata #hoyaLisa #kscapedream

Hi all! 😊 I wanted to show the #GregGang my recent additions to my ever-growing collection 🪴✨ Starting to get back what I lost! 🙌🏽 I met up a few days ago with the lovely lady I bought a Purple Shamrock plant a week ago! Her and I connected and decided to arrange a time to meet at her house to swap plants 😁 I gathered up some cuttings I was given previously (they were duplicates) and a few of my own babies that had survived the cold temps and gifted them to her! Let me show y’all what I got in return 🫶🏽 📸 First, Purple Shamrock is blooming! Second, She gave me HUGE #MonsteraAdonsonii and #PhilodendronBrasil cuttings! (I’ll be sharing the Swiss Cheese with bestie @ShinyBudew 🤭) She also gave me a cute little #hoyaLisa and a cool looking #RavenZzPlant 🤩 What do y’all think? 😊 Hope everyone is having a lovely Monday today 🤍 #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #NewGrowth #PurpleShamrocks #Monstera #MonsteraMob #MonsteraMonday #Philodendron #plantfriendsarethebestfriends #CentralTexasGang #kscapedream

My Hoya Lisa keeps dropping leaves I bought my Hoya Lisa in December. Since I’ve bought it, it’s dropped all its new leaves and a stem, plus a whole cutting died. I’ve changed the soil to something similar to the plant daddies podcast Hoya mix (coir, coconut chips, leca, perlite, charcoal and sphagnum moss). I water when the soil is dry and it’s not directly under my grow light. What am I doing wrong? Does it need to be consistently moist unlike my other hoya’s? More light? #HoyaHeads #Hoya #HoyaHangout #

you wouldn’t believe it by looking at it but this is my #hoyaaustralislisa . woke up to all the leaves rotted off 😖 the medium it’s in is very chunky and i checked with my moisture reader before watering it last. can it be salvaged? #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #PlantTherapy

Hello. I’ve been lurking and learning on here for a bit and have a concern about my Hoya australis. When I first brought her home a few weeks ago there were a couple brown spots on her leaves, but I wasn’t worried and she started looking better. But now I see black spots that are growing as is my concern. Not new to plants, but I am new to Hoyas. My first thought is fungus. I’m careful with watering, but again, new to Hoyas so I’m possibly still not careful enough. It is sitting near a humidifier so maybe that’s exacerbating it? Should I repot it and inspect the roots? I also sprayed neem on all my plants a couple weeks ago. I live in the PNW and I’m always concerned with fungus.

Thin Hoya leaves? Every so often, the newer hoya leaves on some of my variegated hoyas come in much thinner than a typical leaf and I am curious why it's happening. Most recently, the two newest leaves on my Hoya Lisa had this happen, but I've also had it happen with a Krimson Princess too. The plant seems otherwise healthy, and the leaves eventually get a bit thicker, but are never really full thickness (at least with the Krimson, waiting to see what happens to the Lisa). I suspect maybe it got too much sun for a variegated type and so there isn't enough of the darker green? With this Lisa, it also dropped a few of the bottom leaves before shooting out the new thinner leaves. It definitely needs repotted, so could be a lack of nutrients too. Anyway, just curious if anyone had any ideas or knew why this was happening! Thanks! #hoya #hoyaaustralislisa
