Icebox sized melons are oblong with dark green stripes, smooth and thick rind good for transportation, red flesh and very sweet (sugar content about 14% brix). It is the earliest watermelon that I have grown: about 65-70 days. The New Hampshire Midget is almost as quick but it is a fist-sized personnel melon weight. The belle is a 7-8 lb melon. . Resistant to Fusarium, Anthracnose and Phytophtora. Performance here is adequate, but yield in terms of lbs is low. Vines set melons at the same rate as standard melons and take up similar space. 4- 6 seven-lb melons versus 4-6 22-lb. melons. Flesh is firm and sweet.
