Athanas nitescens (Leach, 1813 [in Leach, 1813-1814])

Athanas nitescens is a small snapping shrimp measuring ou to 2 cm length.Its colour varies from geen, blue or red-brown, can also be transparent an speckled with red dots.Females chelae are symmetrical and smaller than the males.

This Hoodes Shrimp can be found in groups under large stones and gravelly substrate.

Ich möchte folgende Info hinzufügen: Mittlerweile habe ich eine Gruppe der Garnelen, grössere Tiere mit kräftigen Scheren (Männchen?) und zierlichere Tiere, in verschiedenen Tönen rosa, beige und braun, teils mit deutlich erkennbarem Rückenstrich. Einige sind bis zu 3 cm gross. Und ich habe etwas entdeckt, was ich bisher nirgends gelesen habe: sie "knallen"! So wie andere Vertreter der Gattung... Da ich nicht viel Tiere im Aquarium habe, die sie auf diese Weise erlegen können scheint das Knallen wohl eher der Kommunikation zu dienen...

Ich habe diese Garnele offensichtlich schon länger als einen Monat in meinem Becken, keine Ahnung wie sie da reingekommen ist. Offensichtlich als blinder Passagier mit Sand oder Pflanzen. Sie lebt in Lochgestein und lässt sich immer nur kurz blicken, wenn ich Futter ins Becken gebe. Sie ist z. Z. ca. 1 cm gross und völlig harmlos. Sie stammt aus dem Schwarzen Meer.
