Zephyranthes (Chilean crocus or rain lily)
1. Zephyranthes rosea. You will start with one small bulb producing one flower, but a year later, you will have a mass of small bulbs producing a pot full of flowers. They are very easy and very hardy. They are summer flowering and will flower from July to end of October, each flower only lasting a few days. They will flower whether kept in the sun or in the shade. Being summer flowering, you want to water them throughout the year. Z. rosea produces pale pink flowers.
2. Zephyranthes candida. This is similar and also hardy. It has thinner cylindrical leaves and produces white flowers during the autumn (October to December).
