ID#: 2929 Description: This is a top view of a plate culture containing the fungus Trichophyton mentagrophytes.

From the front, the color is white to bright yellowish-beige or red-violet. The genus Trichophyton inhabits the soil, humans or animals, and is one of the leading causes of hair, skin and nail infections, i.e. dermatophytosis, in humans.
