Biogeografic region: Andean, Caribbean, Orinoquia, Pacific. Elevation range: 100–2400 m a.s.l. Native to Colombia. Colombian departments: Antioquia, Atlántico, Bolívar, Boyacá, Casanare, Cauca, Cesar, Chocó, Cundinamarca, Huila, Magdalena, Meta, San Andrés y Providencia, Tolima, Valle del Cauca.
