Whitetip Reef Shark

Triaenodon obesus

Very slim body. White tips on back and tail fin. Nasal flaps.

Size : 175 cm

Habitat : In lagoons and outer reefs, 1-330 m. Frequently rest during the day lying on the seabed, in caves, below overhangs, also alone rubble surfaces. Hunts predominantly at night for reef fish and cuttlefish.

Distribution : Red Sea and East Africa to S Japan, Hawaii, Panama.
