Body with black, saddle spot-like vertical stripes on the back, which are shorter towards the back

Size : 20 cm

Habitat : In shallow lagoons and outreefs, 1-15 m. Also swmims in shallow water on reef roofs and at reef edges. Not shy, sometimes curious. Feeds predominantly on bottom-dwelling invertebrates as well as plankton, crustaceans and small fish.

Distribution : East Africa to S Japan, Line Islands and French Polynesia.
