Striped Surgeonfish

Acanthurus lineatus

Yellow with blue, black-seamed horizontal stripes; bluish belly.

Size : 38 cm

Habitat : Frequently in the surf regions of outer reef roofs and exposed reef edges, 0.2-6 m. Very territorial, large males have feeding grounds and harems which they aggressively defend. Grazes on algae.

Distribution : East Africa to SW Japan, Micronesia and French Polynesia.
