Spotfin Squirrelfish

Neoniphon sammara

Silvery with narrow auburn stripes. A red-black spot is located in front of the first dorsal fin.

Size : 32 cm

Habitat : In various reef habitations, from steep outer reef slopes to small coral formations in seagrass fields, 3-45 m. Frequently alone, however also in small loose groups. Often with branch coral.

Distribution : Red Sea, S Oman and East Africa to SW Japan, Micronesia, Hawaii, GBR and French Polynesia.
