Blackblotched Porcupinefish

Diodon liturosus

Brown to olive with several large bright-bordered black patches. Movable barbs.

Size : 50 cm

Habitat : In lagoons and outreefs as well as offshore patch reefs, 3-90 m. Rest during the day in crevices or below overhangs. Feeds at night on hardshell invertebrates.

Distribution : Red Sea and East Africa to S Japan, Micronesia, Society Islands and SE Australia.
