Freckled Hawkfish

Paracirrhites forsteri

Several color variants, however all with black to red spots on the head.

Size : 22 cm

Habitat : In clear lagoons and out reefs, 1-40 m. Not shy. Usually lurks exposed on small branch coral species, also on other stony corals, fire corals and rock protrusions. Feeds on small fish as well as shrimps.

Distribution : Red Sea and East Africa to S Japan, Hawaii and Ducie Island off Pitcairn.
